David Wesley Snyder
David W. Snyder, 83 of Gordonsville, Va., formally of Danville and Catawissa, Pa., died unexpectedly on Monday, April 22, 2019.
Dave was born Jan. 16, 1936, in Danville, a son of the late David W. and A. Rebecca (Clark) Snyder.

Dave was a very kind and caring man. He was always happy to help someone in need. The last six years of his life were his most enjoyable and relaxing. He spent those years with his loving companion Elfie Tatum, whom he adored and also taking care of the animals and the grounds of the farm. They enjoyed traveling with yearly trips to Florida and Myrtle Beach and most recently to Germany and France. Throughout his life he enjoyed taking his 5th wheel camper to Virginia Beach, watching NASCAR races and a variety of sports especially UVA Basketball, Penn State football, the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.
Dave was a graduate of Danville Area High School, class of 1954.
He was owner/operator of Snyder Sinclair, Catawissa in the late 60s to early 70s, and of a small trucking company that took him from the east coast to the west coast and north and south of Pennsylvania many times.
Dave enjoyed driving as his livelihood, including working for Luck Stone Quarry in Ruckersville, Va., and also to see sights throughout the country.
He was also a member of the Catawissa and Valley Chemical Hose Companies.

Dave is survived by three children, Leahan (David) Mayer of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., Luahan (Tom) Herrington of Danville, and David L (Lori) Snyder of Levittown, Pa. He had five grandchildren, Jennifer Latsha, Brenton (Sarah), Lauren, Derek, and Ashley; one great-grandchild, Claire. Dave is also survived by his companion, Elfie and her family; brothers, Richard "Dick" Snyder of Danville, and Edward "Ed" Snyder of Heathsville, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, William "Bill" Snyder.

In honoring Dave's wishes, there will be no service.
Burial will be private at a later time.
