Dawn Moore Blue, 96, of Yuma, Ariz., formerly of the Danville and the Harrisburg, area passed away peacefully on May 8, 2017, at Kindred Assisted Living in Yuma.
She was born on or about April 14, 1921 and left on the doorsteps of a home. When the owner of the home found her, the sun was just starting to rise, therefore, they named her Dawn. She was taken to an orphanage to live until she was adopted at the age of six months by a wonderful family, W. Park and Trellie C. Moore. She was married for 67 years to Charles A. Blue who preceded her in death.
Dawn was employed by the Middle Department Association of Fire Underwriters in Harrisburg. She was a member of The Insurance Women of Harrisburg, International, where she served two terms as president, one as vice president and one as treasurer as well as being chairman of numerous committees. Her other membership included Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
An amazing woman to many, she enjoyed sewing, gardening and jigsaw puzzles. She loved flower gardening and especially loved writing letters to all her friends. She recently enjoyed her 96th birthday at Red Lobster, her favorite restaurant. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Columbia Hill Cemetery, 726 Columbia Hill Road, Danville, with Pastor Charles Reinaker officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home Inc., 10 W. Mahoning St., Danville.
