Donald E. Mausteller, 84, of Danville, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2017, at Grandview Nursing Home, Danville.
He was born October 25, 1932, in Danville, a son of the late Charles and Ethel (Hahn) Mausteller. On December 14, 1956, he married the former Beverly J. Wray and they celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Donald was a 1950 graduate of Danville High School.
Don had retired as an electrical foreman from the Danville State Hospital.
He was member of Shiloh United Church of Christ, Danville, a member of the Danville-Mahoning Lodge 224 F&AM where he served as Past Master, the Danville Royal Arch Chapter 239, Calvary Commandery No. 37, Pennsylvania York Rite College No. 11, Vallerchamp Council No. 25 Royal and select Master Masons, the Caldwell Consistory of Bloomsburg, the National Rifle Association, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, AARL Amateur Radio Member, Veritas Council No. 64 - Allied Masonic Degrees, AARP, and was a life member of the Danville Elks.
Don was an avid hunter, including big game. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting in Montana with his brothers each year. He loved camping, most especially with his grandsons, and was widely known to be "Mr. Gadget", fixing things and having the parts readily available. He loved being an amateur HAM radio operator and was an avid shopper with his wife. Many fond memories will be cherished by his family whom he adored.
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Mausteller Strausser, of Danville, and Wendy Spurbeck, of Longmont, Colo.; three grandsons, Tyde and Dylan Strausser, both of Danville, and Chase Spurbeck, of Longmont; one brother, George Mausteller and his wife Sue, of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by one grandson, Brandon Strausser in December, 2012; and two brothers, Charles and Carl Mausteller.
Family and friends will be received from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Visneski Funeral Home Inc., 10 W. Mahoning St., Danville, with a Masonic service at 10:45, followed by the funeral at 11, with Pastor Ruth Laudermilch officiating.
Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Danville.
