Donald L. "Whitey" Miller, 87, of County Line Road, Turbotville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at Geisinger Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville, surrounded by his family and his masonic brothers.
He was born March 6, 1930, in Limestone Township, Montour County, a son of the late Raymond J. and Dorothy M. (Schuyler) Miller. On April 19, 1953, he married the former Helen A. Schick and they celebrated 55 years of marriage until her passing on April 2, 2009.
He retired from the former Sprout-Bauer Co., Muncy where he had worked for 25 years. He was also a bus driver for Warrior Run School District for 31 years.
Whitey was a long-time member of Washingtonville Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and the church cemetery board.
He was a member for 55 years and past-master of the Masonic Lodge 224 F&AM, Danville and a member of the Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg.
Whitey enjoyed camping and traveling and was a member of the National Camping Travelers Club for more than 45 years.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Paul L. and Lora Miller, of Muncy; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy L. and Donald Newcomer, of Carlisle, and Jeannette M. and Ken Hauck, of Stony Point, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Schuyler B. Miller, and one sister, Faye E. Quigg.
Friends and family are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc, PC, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville where Danville Lodge 224, F&AM, will conduct a memorial service at 8.
Friends may also call from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Washingtonville Lutheran Church, followed by the funeral at 1, with the Rev. Melody Sell, his pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Washingtonville Lutheran Cemetery.
