Elizabeth  Godfrey
Elizabeth "Betty" Godfrey, 77, of Danville, passed peacefully on June 26, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 18, 1942, in Yonkers, N.Y., the daughter of the late Herbert and Gertrude Jordan.

Elizabeth graduated in 1959 from Marymount Academy in Tarrytown, N.Y., and attended college in Tuxedo Park, N.Y.
She was married in 1960 and had four children.
Betty was a loving, happy mother, whom had given her love to more than just her own children. She was a member of the Grove Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star and Moose Lodge.

She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, William "Bill" Godfrey; two loving daughters, Susan O'Brien Fagnano and her husband Frank of Williamsport, and Karen O'Brien Cole of Williamstown. N.J.; and two grandchildren, Tyler Francis and Devin Kyle Fagnano. Betty is also survived by her stepchildren, grandchildren and great-grandchild, James Godfrey Sr. (Donna), their children, James (Lauren) and great-grandson, Maddox, Kristen (Todd), and Jamie (Kevin); the late Lisa Godfrey Knowles, grandchildren Jake, Sydney and Madison Knowles, and Ryan Godfrey (Meghan), grandson Jack. Also surviving are her loving "nieces" whom she adored, Marnie Applegate, (Michael Crain & family), Shelby Axlerod (Kayla and Zax), and Tracy LaCue (Kari).

Betty, along with her husband Bill, raised her two stepgranddaughters, Sydney and Madison Knowles.

Betty was preceded in death by her only sister, Patricia, two of her children, a son, Francis J. O'Brien III at age 18 in 1980, and her youngest daughter, Chrislyn O'Brien at age 16, in 1987.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Betty's life to be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Grove Presbyterian Church, 376 Bloom St., Danville, with the Rev. Dr. Robert J. Andrews, Pastor Emeritus, officiating. Friends will be received from noon to 1:45 p.m. in the Great Room.
Interment will be held in the Memorial Garden at Grove Presbyterian Church.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
