George B. Buckley Jr.
He was born Nov. 29, 1931, in Danville, a son of the late George B. Sr. and Dorothy (Weaver) Buckley.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 52 years, Suzann A. Girton Buckley on Dec. 8, 2000. He is survived by his second wife of 14 years, Ruby E. Wenrich Venarchick Buckley. They were married March 17, 2004.
George was a 1949 graduate of Danville High School. He served with the PA State Militia in 1947 for nine months and then served his country with great pride in the Navy for four years, from 1949 - 1953 as a Petty Officer 3rd Class. He later served in the Army National Guard as an E-7 Sergeant First Class for 25 years.
George was employed as a flat press operator at Kennedy Van Saun, later employed at TRW and then as a mechanical operator and a boiler tender at Merck and Company, retiring in 1994.
He was a member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church in Riverside, a life member of the VFW where he served as Past Commander from 1996-1997, and a 50-year member of Danville Mahoning Lodge 224 F&AM.
George enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, coin collecting and especially enjoyed his ship reunions for the USS KD Bailey. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Ruby, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, George Patrick and Joanne Buckley of Bluffton, S.C.: two daughters and son-in-law, Sharon A. and Carl Loomis of Berwick, and Suzann D. White of Riverside; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert L. Buckley of Millville; one sister, Elsie Jean Snyder of Danville; two stepsons and their wives, Paul A. and Elaine Venarchick, and Kevin M. and Ashley Venarchick of Trevorton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Theresa Elaine Buckley; and one sister, Audrey Stump.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of George's life at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at St. Peter's United Methodist Church, 240 Sunbury Road, Riverside, with the Rev. Dr. Donald N. Hurley officiating.
Friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Danville, with military rites accorded by the Montour County Veterans.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Visneski Funeral Home, 42 W. Mahoning St., Danville.
