Hazel M. Lemon


Hazel M. Lemon, 95, of Danville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018, at Emmanuel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Danville.
She was born Nov. 16, 1922, in Danville, a daughter of the late Wilbur and Katherine (Foust) Millard.

 Hazel was married for 41 years to A. LaRue Lemon who preceded her in death. They were married on June 21, 1945.
Hazel graduated from Danville High School in 1940.

She was employed for 30 years at the Danville State Hospital as a nurse's aide, retiring in 1983.
Hazel was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Danville where she was a member of the Friendship Circle and served as a deaconess as well as on the Flower Committee.
Hazel was well known as "Meme" not only to her grandchildren whom she adored, but also to many others who loved to visit her. She will be warmly remembered for her smile, love of family and friends, shopping, delicious cooking, and knitting. One of her greatest joys was cooking family meals and picnics at Halfway Dam with her family. Hazel cherished her grandchildren.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey P. and Connie Lemon, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Terry and Mark Kutcher, Diane Gelbaugh, and Patti and Dan Merrell, all of Danville; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, William in infancy in 1946; one brother, Howard Millard; and her son-in-law, Harold Gelbaugh in 2008.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Hazel's life at 11 a.m. Saturday at Visneski Funeral Home Inc., 42 W. Mahoning St., Danville, with the Rev. Dawes J. Dunham of First Baptist Church, Danville, officiating. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial will be held in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville.
