James Gulliver, 90, of Danville, passed away on Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at his residence.
He was born May 27, 1926, in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Clarence and Edna (Fry) Gulliver.

He was a 1944 graduate of Bloomsburg High School. James served in the Army during World War II for a Headquarters & Headquarters Company, serving in the 34th Battalion, 8th Field Artillery Regiment. A decorated military man, he received many awards including the American Theater Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
He later worked at TRW for 34 years and Textron for 10 years.
James was a big sports fan and tried to travel where ever the best high school football and basketball match ups were for the week. He was also a die hard animal lover and enjoyed feeding squirrels. He was also a perennial presence at the Danville School District School Board meetings.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce in 1998.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Janet Gulliver, of Bloomsburg, and Mark and Denise Gulliver, of Northumberland; seven grandchildren, Justin, Sunni, Steven, Melinda, Tiffany, Matthew, and Christina; one brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Carol Tinsely, of Berwick; and three half siblings, June Basile, Jean Brightbill, and Don Keller.

A visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 306 Lombard St., Danville, followed by the funeral at 10, with his pastor, the Rev. Ronald French officiating.
Burial will follow in Grovania Cemetery, Route 11, five miles East of Danville.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions in James' memory may be made to the Animal Resource Center, 301A Boone Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
