James W. "Duke" Mordan Jr., 70, of Danville, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018, at Geisinger Medical Center.
He was born March 6, 1948, in Danville, a son of the late Betty (Fisher) and James W. Mordan Sr.
James graduated from Danville Area High School and then served in the Army with the "Screaming Eagles" of the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. He was the most decorated veteran in Montour County, earning a Purple Heart, Bronze Stars, and other decorations.
He later worked in mechanics and construction.
James was a member of the American Legion Post 40, the VFW Post 298, the Continental Fire Company, and Washies Fire Company, all in Danville.
He is survived by one son, Shane Mordan and significant other, Missy Miller of Milton; one daughter, Shannon Beagle and significant other, Joseph Helms of Bloomsburg; two brothers, Ed Mordan and significant other, Lydia Miller of Sunbury, and Frank Mordan of Shamokin; two sisters, Dorothy Fair of Washingtonville, and Hazel Guffy of Atlas; cousin and best friend, Steve Troutman; and four grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Duke's Life at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Continental Fire Company, Danville, with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard.
Interment take place at a later date.
