Kenneth Franklin Weatherill, 92, of 5485 Perkiomen Ave. Reading, formerly of Danville, passed away on June 9, 2017, at Berkshire Commons in Reading.
He was born May 11, 1925, in Shamokin, a son of the late Charles and Goldie (Leiby) Weatherill.
A devoted husband and caretaker, he was married for 72 years to the former Mildred Metzger. They were married on Feb. 24, 1945.
Kenneth was employed as a truck driver for Follmer Trucking Company, Danville, for more than 30 years, from where he retired.
An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed small game and deer hunting with his son, son-in-law and grandsons. He always enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, giving most of his vegetables away to his family and friends. Kenneth was passionate about NASCAR. His mechanical skills were noteworthy as he always enjoyed fixing things himself. He loved his family and his greatest joy was spending time with them and participating in the lives of his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Eileen F. and Joe Webb, of Elverson; four grandchildren, Bradley Webb and his wife Deborah, of Mohnton, Keith Webb and his wife Shannon, of Honeybook, Nathan Weatherill, of California, and Donelle Weatherill, of Florida; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Alice Cotner, of Turbotville; one brother, Raymond Weatherill, of Coudersport; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth W. Weatherill on April 18, 2005; two brothers and four sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Visneski Funeral Home Inc., 10 W. Mahoning St., Danville, with the Rev. Trevor J. Hahn, of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Friends will be received from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville.
