Lois J. Oberdorf, a lifelong Riverside resident, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at the residence of her son Todd, where she was cared for during her recent failing health.
She was born April 3, 1930, a daughter of the late Albert Reigle and Edith (Hartman) Reigle. She was married for 69 years to Kenneth Oberdorf who preceeded her in death in July 2014. They were married April 16, 1945.
Lois was a homemaker and worked briefly at the Danville Area School District in the cafeteria. She attended Danville Area schools.
She was a member of the Pine Street Lutheran Church.
Lois enjoyed cooking and refinishing furniture in her earlier years. She enjoyed the company of family and friends, especially her local neighbors, who helped her out immensely. Heartfelt gratitude to you all. She was the rock of the family and her love and compassionate listening will be sorely missed. Special thanks should also be noted for Geisinger Medical Center, BP-7, and Columbia-Montour Hospice.
She is survived by one daughter, Alice J. Mimm, of Lancaster; and one son, M. Todd Oberdorf and his wife Sheri, of Riverside. Also surviving are granddaughters, Dawn Woomer and her husband Ron, of Mountville, Christine Brown and her husband Lonnie, of Wrightsville, and Kelly Long and her husband Keith, of Lancaster; and grandsons, Brandon Oberdorf and his wife Melissa, of Bloomsburg, and Justin Oberdorf and his wife Candiace, of Riverside, as well as nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by one sister, Freda Keefer, of Milton.
She was preceeded in death by one son, John; as well as one sister, Alma Shaffer.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Brady Funeral Home, 320 Church St., Danville, to celebrate her life with the Rev. Lois Martin of Pine Street Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m.
