Margaret E. Metzer
Margaret E. "Marge" (McKeehen) Metzer, 84, of Danville, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, at her home.
She was born April 11, 1935, in Scranton, a daughter of the late Ann (Trabert) and James McKeehen. Margaret grew up in Honesdale, along with her brother, James McKeehen.

Margaret was a 1953 graduate of Honsedale High School. She attended Penn State University, where she met the love of her life, John J. "Jack" Metzer. Margaret then finished her schooling at the Katharine Gibbs School in 1957. She married Jack Metzer on June 6, 1958. In 1975, they moved to Danville with their three sons.
She belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church, where she volunteered as a Sunday school teacher. She was also active in her community, dedicating time to Abigail's Attic, Good Samaritan Mission Center, the Special Olympics, and the Geisinger Medical Center Auxiliary. On Nov. 13, 2004, Margaret and Jack received the Robert N. Pursel Distinguished Service Award for outstanding community service.

Margaret also enjoyed playing golf at Frosty Valley Country Club, in the 9 Hole Ladies' League, winning the 9 Hole Tournament one year. She was an avid member of her local Bridge club. She and Jack also enjoyed spending time in the winter at their condo in Tequesta, Fla. Most of all, Margaret dedicated her time and love to her family. They were blessed to call her wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also surrounded by many great friends in her life.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, John J. Metzer; sons, Robert Metzer and wife Roberta of Danville, Tom Metzer of Danville, David Metzer of Vancouver, BC; and three grandchildren, Ian Metzer, Daniel Metzer, and Elizabeth Metzer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James McKeehen.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 84 Lombard Ave., Danville, with her pastor, the Rev. David Layser officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshment will immediately follow at the church.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in Margaret's name to Good Samaritan Mission Center, P.O. Box 114, Danville, PA 17821, or Trinity United Methodist Church, 84 Lombard Ave., Danville, PA 17821.
