Martha's Story

Martha Ruth Parr, 97, of Danville, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 25, 2017, at the Emmanuel Nursing Center, Danville.
She was born March 16, 1920, in Nescopeck, a daughter of the late Stephen and Alice Mae (Birth) Knelly. In March of 1942, she married Hale Clair Parr and his death broke a marital union of 52 years.
Martha graduated from Mifflinville High School.
She was employed as a bookkeeper for the Bloomsburg Bank for many years. She also enjoyed working at Weis Market in the produce department and as a hostess where people were greeted by her friendly smile and graceful spirit.
She was a member of First English Baptist Church, Bloomsburg where so many people had a huge impact on her life in numerous ways.
Martha enjoyed shopping, her yardwork and tenderly caring for all of her many plants

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol K. and Mike Lyons, of Bend, Ore.

Services will be private.
