Nevin L. Wintersteen


Nevin L. Wintersteen, 97, formerly of Danville, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at Nursing and Rehabilitation at The Mansion in Sunbury.
He was born Oct. 19, 1921, in Danville, a son of the late Grover and Essa (Lewis) Wintersteen.

Nevin was employed as a laborer at Cabinet Works in Danville for 12 years as well as South Coast Lumber Company for 11 years. In earlier years, he was with the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) which was a public work relief program that operated from 1933 to 1942 in the United States for unemployed, unmarried men. Along with others, he helped build Skyline Drive in Virginia.
Nevin was of the Methodist faith.
He was a Boy Scout leader for several years and enjoyed working on cars, gardening and especially enjoyed tending to fruit trees.

Nevin is survived by one sister, Ruth Fox of Northumberland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Warren, Russell, James, Fred and Doyle; and one sister, Arminta Wright.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service to be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Kase Cemetery, Riverside, with Pastor Patricia Bollinger officiating.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, 968 Renns Road, Sunbury, PA 17801.

Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home Inc., 42 W. Mahoning St., Danville.
