Thomas William Harris
Thomas William Harris, 85, of Danville, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born April 24, 1933, in Danville, a son of the late Thomas W. and Alice A. (Smedley) Harris. On Dec. 8, 1951, he married the former Barbara Hulsizer who survives.

Thomas graduated from Danville High School in 1951.
He was employed for 38 years at Kennedy Van Saun in Danville as a machine operator, supervisor and salesman until they closed. He also worked as a consultant with Chalmers and Kubeck, until his retirement at age 62.
He was an active and lifetime member of St. Paul's Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Danville where he served faithfully as treasurer, in the choir, and chef in the kitchen cooking for numerous events. He was an honorary member of the Big Rock Rod and Gun Club, the NRA, and was the founder of the Blue Hill Hunting Club.
Thomas was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was an excellent athlete in baseball and many other sports which he thoroughly enjoyed. One of his greatest joys was watching and following his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their participation in their many interests and sports. He was very well known as a spirited, fun loving man with a great sense of humor and many thought of him as an "unpaid comedian". His family, whom he adored, was at the heart of all he did and gave him tremendous delight during his lifetime.

In addition to his devoted wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas W. Jr. and Lori Harris, and Joseph F. and Maria Harris, all of Danville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda D. (Harris) and Thomas Hoover of Bloomsburg, and Beth A. (Harris) and Gregg Campbell of Danville; 11 grandchildren, Amy, Brian, Tommy John, Christopher, Benjamin, Hanna, Paige, Joey, Lauren, Joanna and Adam; eight great-grandchildren, Masy, T.J., Lexi, Cody, Lorelie, Morgan, Joel and Holly; and several nieces and nephews, including his nephew, Allan.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Mae Gearhart and Laura Harris.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Thomas's life at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at St. Paul's Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 417 Pine St., Danville, with Pastor Greg Molter officiating. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service.
Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family will provide flowers. To honor and remember Tom, do what he did and cherish your family and remember that time spent with family is the greatest blessing of all.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church, St. Paul's.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Visneski Funeral Home, 42 W. Mahoning St., Danville.
