Warren George Klees, 92, formerly of Fernville, died on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at the Emmanuel Nursing Center, Danville. He resided at the Meadows in Danville since May 2002.
He was born Dec. 6, 1923, in Locust Township, Columbia County, a son of the late Charles Harrison and Laura Amanda (Fahringer) Klees.
He was a 1940 graduate of the former Locust Township Vocational High School. Warren served with the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific Theatre of Operations.
Following his military service he worked for the former Bell Telephone Co. at their central office in Bloomsburg, from 1951 until he retired in 1986.
He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg, Washington Lodge 265 Free and Accepted Masons, the Caldwell Consistory, and the American Legion Post 541, Catawissa.
Warren is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David Lee and Lorraine Ann (Baran) Klees, of Harrisburg; one grandson, Michael Jacob Klees and wife, Morgan Lee (Charles), of Tunkhannock; one granddaughter, Alicia Marie Klees, of State College.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Grace Arlene Small on Feb. 14, 2014; and two brothers, Karl Kermit and Benjamin Franklin Klees.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, with a Masonic service at 9:45, in the church parlor at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 123 N. Market St., Bloomsburg, followed by the funeral at 11, with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders, officiating.
Interment will be in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy, with full military honors by the Catawissa Area Veterans group.
The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to the Memorial Fund of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 123 N. Market St., Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
