William E. Hancock, 80, of Danville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Danville.
He was born April 8, 1937, in Danville, a son of the late Harry and Anna (Heimbach) Hancock. On Sept. 20, 1958, he married the former Dorothy H. Nevius who survives. They celebrated 59 years of marriage.
William graduated from Danville Area High School in 1955 and his country in the Army National Guard.
He was employed at Chef Boyardee for a few years and went on to work at TRW as an expeditor, and then as an inspection supervisor and production control manager at Textron from where he retired.
William enjoyed doing yard work and was an avid sports fan cheering on the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, William E. "Skip" Hancock II, of Danville; and one daughter and son-in-law, Traci Ann and Stanley Crone, of Danville; five grandchildren, William E. "DJ" Hancock III, Danielle Hancock, Stephanie Hancock, David Crone and Gracie Crone; eight great-grandchildren, Lily, Chuck, Kasey, Aiden, Emilee, Anthony, Wade, and Isabella; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one child at infancy.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
