William H. "Bill" Snyder, 76, of Danville, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, in Wellsboro.
He was born Oct. 17, 1940, in Danville, a son of the late David W. and A. Rebecca (Clark) Snyder.
Bill attended Danville High School, and was a member of the Class of 1958. He served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Diamondhead.
After the Navy, he worked for Voelkers and then the Danville State Hospital as a plumber until his retirement in 1997.
He was a member of the Moose, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the "Coffee Clutch" that met regularly at Heeter's. He was a Boy Scout for 60 years and served as Scout Master for Troop 47 for 25 years. He served on various committees including the District and Council and worked with many Eagle Scouts. He was a Wood Badge Scoutmaster and received the Silver Beaver Award. Hunting was also a great passion.
He was an active member of his church, Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church in Danville.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Jane Snyder; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Joan Snyder, of Wshington, and Scott and Stephanie Snyder, of Nescopeck; one daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and Dave Park, of Irwin; six grandchildren; and three brothers, David, Richard, and Edward.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church, followed by the funeral at noon, with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Lois Martin officiating.
Burial with military honors will follow in Elan Memorial Park Cemetery, Bloomsburg.
