William E. Temple

December 11, 1949 - September 30, 2018

William E. "Bill" Temple, 68, a lifelong Danville native, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, at Grandview Health Homes, Danville.
He was born Dec. 11, 1949, in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Lewis Domer and Sarah Agnes (Hain) Temple.

Bill graduated from Danville High School in 1968. He served his country in the Coast Guard.

Bill was married for 32 years to Theresa Pegg Temple, who survives. They were married September 27, 1986. He was married to Kay Irene Middleton for 15 years.

He was a highly respected Police Officer for the Danville Police Department for 24 years. He was employed there from May 8, 1977 - May 8, 2001, when he retired.

Bill was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church Danville. His other memberships included Danville-Mahoning Lodge 224 F&AM and the F.O.P. Lodge 52.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved to fish and hunt and thoroughly enjoyed boating. Bill will be warmly remembered by many for his laughter, his talkative spirit and appealing storytelling. Porch sitting with his family was most important to him as he held his family in the utmost esteem. His example was responsible for the close family he leaves behind. He treasured them all and he will be greatly missed by them.

Bill is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Matthew C. Temple of Turbotville, and Jeffrey S. and Ashley Temple of Danville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca K. and Thomas Reedy of New Jersey, Amber N. and Brandon Lehman of Danville, and Sarah I. and Donte Ruhl of Selinsgrove; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Sherry Derr and M. Lynn Kitka, both of Danville; two brothers, Robert Temple of the Poconos in Pennsylvania and Barry Temple Sr. of Danville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, David Temple.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Bill's life at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 241 E. Market St., Danville, with the Rev. Trevor J. Hahn officiating. Friends will be received from 9 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in Bill's memory to Danville SPCA, 1467 Bloom Road, Danville, PA 17821, or to the The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517 or online at www.woundedwarriorprogrect.org/donate.?

2 Corinthians 1:3,4 My hope is that you find strength and comfort through the “Father of tender mercies and God of all comfort”and his promises for the future. Acts 24:15, 1 Corinthians 15:26, Hebrews 2:15 all speak of a time when our God Jehovah (Psalm 83:18) through His son Jesus Christ will awaken our loved ones asleep in death. Please feel free to visit JW.org for additional comfort and a further look into this hope.
