With her children and family at her bedside, Jean H. Heizer, née Hite, 95, of Danville, PA went to be with her Lord Jesus on Thursday, May 18, 2017. She was born December 17, 1921 to Arthur W. and Eugenia N. (Grant) Hite in Vesuvius, Virginia.
She entered Fairfield High School at age 11 graduating four years later and was a Dunsmore Business College graduate at the age of 17. Her career spanned sixty years as Secretary, Medical Secretary, Medical Transcriptionist, and Instructor of Medical Transcriptionists and included National Biscuit Co., Rocereto and Co., Magee Carpet Co. (10 years), Geisinger Medical Center (20 years), Columbia-Montour Vocational Technical School (2 years), and Berwick Hospital (9 years) before retiring in 1998.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her three children: son, Phil Heizer and his wife, Molly of Hockessin, DE.; daughters Phyllis "Fistle" Morton of Danville, PA; and Becky Long and her husband Gary of Woodbridge, VA. She was affectionately called "Nammy" by eight grandchildren: Eric (and Laurie) Heizer, Denise (and Rick) Romig, and Allison (and Greg) Jaloszynski; Jeff, Jason, and Jeremy Bitler; Aubri (and Dustin) Thurmond, and Chelsi (and Austin) Matthews; and eight great-grandchildren: Avery, Owen, and Abby Heizer; Kyle, Nate, and Evan Jaloszynski; and Benjamin and Oliver Matthews.
She was a member and pianist of the Bloomsburg Church of the Nazarene in Bloomsburg, PA and in her later years attended both Christ Wesleyan Church and New Hope Church, both of Milton, PA.
She accomplished so much in her life including authoring several books about growing up in the rural mountains of Virginia. In one of these writings, she said, "I have been dealt some very rewarding times as well as some very difficult times, but after all is said and done, I have learned that nothing in life really matters except our relationship with Jesus Christ and family."
There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service on Sunday, July 16, 2017 with additional details and information forthcoming closer to the date which will be announced by the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West Mahoning Street Danville PA. www.visneski.com
