Text size

John R. M. "Jack" Curry III, 70, of Danville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016.
He was born May 8, 1946, in Danville, a son of the late John R.M. Jr. and Marjorie "Peg" (Glenn) Curry.

Jack was a noted athlete from his years as a childhood Little Leaguer and YMCA champ through his impressive receiving records as a split end at Penn State. He was the vice president of the Danville High School class of '64 and graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in '68. He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. His adult years were spent as a realtor at Booth & Deutsch and he spent his free time golfing and bowling.
Jack was well known and loved in Danville throughout his 70 years of life. The Curry family cannot adequately begin to thank our friends, along with the incredible community of Danville, for their tremendous love and support throughout this sad experience. A heartfelt thanks is extended to the people who traveled from afar to say goodbye to Jack. We always knew he was a special man, but we have been humbled greatly to witness the many people he has touched in his lifetime. We all share in the loss of an incredible man.

He is survived by his two children, Lindsey (Andrew) Goldberg, of Bala Cynwyd, and John R. M. Curry IV, of San Diego, Calif.; his two grandchildren, Alex and Samantha; and his sister, Jane Curry, of Philadelphia.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Walzer Barn, 141 Roaring Creek Road, Catawissa, with the Rev. Dr. Robert J. Andrews officiating. Friends will be received from 9 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.

A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville.
