Nicholas Scott "Nick" Newcomb, 26, of Danville, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017.
He was born Aug. 21, 1990, in Talladega, Ala., a son of Michael and Kathy (Cavanaugh) Newcomb, of Danville.
Nick attended Danville Area Senior High School and graduated in 2008. He served in the Army from 2008-2013 as an infantryman, completing two tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan earning numerous medals and awards. Nick later attended Triangle Tech and went on to work as a boilermaker. Welding quickly became his passion and he was so proud of his "Tankie" life.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as rooting for the Philadelphia Phillies and Flyers. He also loved spending time with his soulmate, Marissa Hidlay of Danville. The two were practically inseparable.
In addition to his parents and girlfriend, he will be deeply missed by his twin sister, Jenny Newcomb, of Danville; two sisters, Katie Newcomb, of Montgomery, and Stephanie and husband Michael McNelis, of Philadelphia; his dogs, Bandit, Briar, and Blaize; and cat, Spice.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, 20 Brookside Drive, Danville, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Dawes J. Dunham officiating.
Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery with full military honors.
