Betty Louise Prentiss Obituary
On March 12, 2023, our sweet mother, Betty Louise Prentiss, 91, passed away at Transitions LifeCare, Raleigh, N.C. after complications and a long battle with heart disease.
She was born in Danville, Pa. on June 26, 1931, to Charles and Florence (Swank) Jordan. She later met and married her husband Harold Prentiss and they had four children together. She attended Danville Area High School and spent much of her life as a dietary technician at the Danville State Hospital from which she retired. She was well known for her skills in the kitchen and especially her pie baking ability. She loved making people feel at home and happy. Her favorite pastimes were reading scripture, watching baseball games and doting on her loving family. She was an avid card and board game player and loved going to bingo with her family and friends. She was truly a force of nature and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; sisters, Glenda Stephens and Audrey Troy; brothers, William and Raymond Jordan; and stepsons, Kenneth and Harold Prentiss.
She is survived by her sister, Vivian Oberdorf; and brother, Eugene "Butch" Jordan; her sons, Charles (Kathy), Steven (Karin), and William (Carol) Prentiss; and her daughter, Bonnie Naugle; her grandchildren, Michelle Berry, Lisa Frey, Charles Prentiss, Cassandra Cicalese, Kelly Burmeister, Steven, Amanda Rae and Mathew Prentiss, William and Bryan Prentiss, Harold Prentiss, Marie Heimbach, and Eileen Povish; as well as 14 great-grandchildren, Jake Berry, Lucy, Raymond and Eliza Burmeister, Rennie Cicalese, Benjamin Frey, Katherine Frey, Ashely Thompson, Jennifer Dinsmore, Laura Getz, Sarah Heimbach, Aria Prentiss, Lena Rae and Edelyn Pollard; five great-great-grandchildren, Everett, Madelyn, Abigail, Charlotte Getz and Gavin Getz; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Danville, on June 24, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Harold. Family and friends are welcome to attend her service.
