Danville, Pennsylvania - Carol Vogel Rudy, 82, of Danville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at Emmanuel Nursing Center, Danville. She was born on March 24, 1943, in Williamsport, the daughter of the late Frank and Mildred "Babe" (Flexer) Vogel.


Carol graduated from Williamsport Area High School in 1961 and went on to become a Registered Nurse through the Geisinger Medical School of Nursing in 1964. She later received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from Bloomsburg University in 1998.


She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry W. Rudy, whom she married on Nov. 20, 1965. They were married for 57 years.


Carol worked selflessly as a Registered Nurse for 48 years at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Her commitment extended beyond her profession as she volunteered at the Villa as a receptionist, serving the Sisters of St. Cyril and Methodius with grace and humility as an Associate.


She was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Danville, where she served faithfully as a greeter and on funeral luncheons. Her bright, beautiful smile and gentle demeanor comforted countless patients, families and friends, embodying the essence of selflessness. Carol was a steadfast source of support, always willing to lend a helping hand. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.


Carol was passionate about many things in life. She found joy in traveling and exploring new places, spent countless hours engrossed in books, and reveled in the excitement of visiting casinos. However, her greatest joy came from the time spent with her family, especially her adoring grandchildren, who were a source of immense pride and happiness throughout her life.


She is survived by one son, Scott Rudy, his wife, Nicole, and their children Gavin and Madison Rudy, all of Sykesville, Md. and one daughter, Kristin Loadwick and her children, Miranda and Jake Loadwick, all of McLean, Va. Carol is also survived by one niece, Michele Machmer and one nephew, Ricky Vogel as well as several cousins. She is survived by four brothers-in-law, Ron Rudy, Richard Rudy (Pat), Leonard Rudy (Harriet) and Steve Wedoff and three sisters-in-law, Patricia Heimbach, Iva Rudy and Sharon Biber.


In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Vogel; two brothers-in-law, George "Tom" Rudy and Ed Heimbach, as well as two sisters-in-law, Linda Wedoff and Peggy Rudy.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, at 10:45 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 68 Center St., Danville, with Father Timothy Marcoe as celebrant. Entombment in the Odd Fellows Cemetery Columbarium will be private. Nursing honors will be accorded by SUN Nursing Honor Guard.
