Helen P. Miller, 93, of Danville, entered into eternal life Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born Nov. 29, 1931, in Kingston, a daughter of the late Joseph Sr. and Helen (McGowan) Maier.

Helen spent her early years in the Wilkes-Barre area where she attended Sacred Heart School in Plains and St. Nicholas School in Wilkes-Barre. When the former Maier family moved to Danville in 1941, she completed her elementary education at St. Joseph School. Mrs. Miller was a 1949 graduate of the Slovak Girl's Academy (now St. Cyril's). In 1953, she graduated from College Misericordia in Dallas, Pa., with a degree in English and journalism.

She was married to the late Donald L. Miller for 54 years. They were married on July 18, 1953. He passed away on March 5, 2008.

From 1953 to 1958 Mrs. Miller worked at Thompson Products. In the mid 1960s she taught for several years at St. Joseph School and later worked at Kennedy Van Saun, from 1974 until her retirement in 1988.

Mrs. Miller belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a member of the Servants of Light Prayer Group and the Nocturnal Adoration Society. She served as an Extraordinary Minister of Communion until health concerns ended that privilege.

Mrs. Miller was a life member of the Friends of the Library, a member of the Bookworms Book Club, and the Danville Woman's Club. She was one of the founding members of the Frosty Valley Dulcimer Friends, a local music group specializing in acoustic music.

She is survived by one daughter, Katie Quigley of Danville; one son, Andrew Miller of Lewisburg; as well as two sisters, Mary Farrell and her husband John of Riverside and Susan Maier of Watsontown, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Maier in 1998 and Joseph Maier Jr. in 2000.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held Saturday, Jan. 25, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 68 Center St., Danville, with Father Timothy Marcoe as celebrant. Friends will be received from 10 to 11:15 a.m. in the St. Hubert Chapel.

Burial will be private in St. Joseph Cemetery, Danville.
