Hope Mills, North Carolina - Cecile Carmody, formerly of Riverside, Pa., (1972) who lived in the mansion at 607-623 Avenue F with the large family that the neighbors loved to visit, passed away at Woodhaven Nursing Center, Lumberton, N.C. on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
Cecile was called home peacefully surrounded by the love of family. She was born Jeanette Cecile DeCailleux Romero Sanson on Jan. 3, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, to Angel Albert Romero Sanson and Maria Yolande Narcissa DeCailleux. She married Thomas Richard Carmody on June 5, 1954, in Palenville, NY. They were married 53 years when her husband joined our Lord. They were blessed with 11 children from their union. There were five generations living at the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Richard Carmody; her parents, Albert and Yolande Sanson; her sister, Yolanda Smith; her brothers, Henry, Peter, and Louis Sanson, as well as her oldest son, John Carmody.
She is survived by her children, George (Connie) Carmody of Wheeler, NY, Brian (Irene) Carmody of Hope Mills, NC, Patricia Carmody Fair, of Bonifay, Fla., Maureen (Thomas) Hutson of Flagler Beach, Fla., Keith (Lynette) Carmody of Rothschild, Wisc., Theresa (Steven) Rogers of Tallassee, Ala., Joseph (Christine) Carmody of Ojai, Calif., Kirk (Grace) Carmody of Cape Coral, Fla., Lorna (Cecil) Emerson of Roseville, Calif., and Clover (Joseph) Szmutko of Harvest, Ala.; 23 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren, and a host of
nieces and nephews.
Next to Jesus, family was of utmost importance to Cecile. If you hung out with the family, you were treated like family with many a lecture to be shared. Wonderful times were had in that home in Pennsylvania. It is a cherished time for the Carmody Clan who grew up there. If you were fortunate enough to know Cecile, please share the many good memories. She will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know her.
