Kenneth E. Long, of Schuylkill Haven, PA died at Rosewood Nursing Home on his birthday with his Dee by his side following a four year illness.

Born in Washingtonville, PA on Nov. 4, he was the son of the late Guy Long.

From the tree of life I picked a plum, how my life did hum. I had a good wife. I had a good life. I had a lot of fun. I got a lot done.

Ken being the last surviving member of his immediate family was preceded in death by his father, his fishing and hunting, get into trouble, partner in crime, and best bud Denessa Jayne Michelle Beaver in 2005, brothers: James and Donald Long, sisters: Anna Appleman, Lucille Fox, and Dorothy Reedy.

Ken is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dorine (Mackner) Long, whom he always called "Dee"; son David Beaver (Sheri), Lewistown; daughter Laura Snyder, Poconos; four grandchildren: Tiffany Stains, Burnham, David Beaver Jr. (Amber), Lewistown; Branden Barnes (Marissa), Ohio, and Cheyenne Counterman (Ryan), CA; seven great-grandchildren: Kierra and Kesi Stains, Kamden, Kenzlee, and Mason Beaver, and Savannah and Chase Counterman.

Ken was a graduate of Danville High School. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict and was of the Lutheran faith. Ken worked for the Holiday Inn, first in Sunbury, then climbing the corporate ladder, he was Assistant Inn Keeper in Lewistown, Manager in Clearfield, and General Manager in Reading. He retired from the Holiday Inn and went to work for Craftex, where he was very active in the Union and was and activist at many Marches in NJ, NY, Vegas, and MD and also lobbying on Capital Hill for a better work place. Ken had a Tie Bar collection with over 5,000 pieces, loved Jazz and Country music, working in the garden, watching old movies and loved being with his family. Ken loved bowling and belonged to the Tuesday Men's League in Pottsville and the Thursday Senior League in Reading and once bowled a 300 game.

Ken will be laid to rest at Maitlan Cemetery in Lewistown. There will be no services due to his request and COVID-19. Condolences may be sent to Dee's home in Schuylkill Haven. The family would like to thank Lori, Nikki, Johanna, Stacey, Brittany, Lisa, and Terri at Rosewood. Sorry if I missed anyone.
