R. Bruce Yucha, 69, of Coal Township, passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, at his residence.
He was born April 2, 1954, in Shamokin, a son of the late Paul and Mary (Venarchick) Yucha.
He attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School and was a graduate of Shamokin High School and the Northumberland County Vocational Technical School where he was in the OJT program. It was through the OJT program that he started working for Weis.
Bruce was married Aug. 18, 1990, in the Chestnut St. Methodist Church, to the former Jeaneen Jilek who survives.
Bruce was employed at Weis Markets in Shamokin for over 20 years. After retiring from Weis he was employed at SCI Coal Township as a food service instructor.
He was a great cook and always made sure there was enough for everyone to enjoy. He was a life member at the St. Francis Home Association and the East End Fire Company. In his spare time he loved to fish and golf and enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. He was a very loved and wonderful uncle and brother-in-law.
He is survived by his wife, Jeaneen; a brother, Paul Yucha and his wife Dauna of Elysburg; brother-in-law, Charles Jilek and his wife Tressa of Hershey; three nephews, Richard McCracken and his wife Allison of Lebanon, Paul Sweda and Ashley Sweda; three nieces, Tarah Gemberling and her husband Shane of Elysburg, Ashley Jilek and Jamie Guschel. Three great-nieces, Morgan McCracken, Sophie Gemberling and Katie McCracken; and three great-nephews, Gavin, Taylor and Connor McCracken.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Rose Weikel and her husband Palmer, Carol McCracken and her husband Rick, and Joan Sweda.
A viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home, Ltd., 120 S. Market St., Shamokin, where the funeral service will begin at noon with the Rev. David Butler officiating.
Burial will be private for immediate family.
